Happy Chanukkah, Merry Christmas, and a Joyous end of Ramadan! Welcome to our fourth issue of Green Home Living, the Holiday Issue. As Christmas approaches, Green Home finds itself moving strongly in the direction of making the spiritual underpinnings of our work more explicit. The main focus of this work is on bridging the gap between the spiritual community and the environmental community by focusing on helping people make their homes into a sacred space. As Editor of Green Home Living and President of Green Home, I am passionate about this vision of a spiritual revolution in America, starting in our homes.
The vision we are stepping into is of a nation of spiritually attuned abodes. It is of an America living up to the ideal of a sustainable and harmonious life, not just for all its citizens, not even just for all global citizens, but for all of life on earth. It is a vision we believe we can achieve not primarily by protests or activism, but by changing our homes so they reflect this ideal in themselves. It is a belief that we must start where we live, and we must model that which we wish to see on the grander scale. If we let ourselves believe it, we can see our country emerging as a community of communities tuned in to this new frequency.
As it is, we can't even hear the message that a lovely life is possible with all the radiation and toxicity emanating from the very places we live. Removing poisonous materials from people's homes, as well as turning off the TV and turning away from the spectacle, provides the space for a higher, spiritual dimension to enter. Green Home Living, and our partner Web site, Green Home, aim to be a tool kit to help people build that space. The changes we make work on other levels as well, for when one of us buys a Green Home product, our money is actually going to businesses who are changing the world with their businesses. So, by shifting our inner space, our sanctum sanctorum, we are also shifting the outer space of global business economies and the whole world. It's more than putting your money where your mouth is, it's where your heart and lungs are too. As this year draws to a close, I would like to honor everybody who has had the thought that they would like to be green. If you're reading this, you've probably had that thought. It's one great thought. Nice to share it with you.
Peace with earth,
- LC
