Diversity in Full Bloom - Making your Garden Green Welcome to the second issue of Living Green! We're a real virtual magazine now, as two issues determine a magazine as surely as two points determine a line! And just as a line has no beginning and no end, we too are a continuum, situated smack dab in the middle of the infinite diversity of the universe. And that's what this issue talks about - Nature's diversity, in all of its multi-various facets. We're here to explore and rejoice in the wonderful diversity (and diversions!) around us. We've just hit the summer solstice. It's high noon in the northern hemisphere. Everything is in full bloom, buzzing. It's hot out. This issue celebrates the abundance of light and life surrounding us. In it you will find stories that help you live green within this splendor, and how that splendor gets there in the first place. Enjoy "Going Wild in the Backyard," where Sue Moore tells us how to transform the backyard into a wildlife preserve. Join our lament in "Where Have All The Pollinators Gone?" which is about the current bee population crisis. Then we've got "Worm Wrangling" which is all about how to round up rich, fat compost from your kitchen scraps. "Bug Vs. Bug" gives the lowdown on integrated pest management. Finally, find out why you should "Leave The Roots On." And those are just the articles! You can read what happened to Sue's tablecloth (the follow-up to last month's "So I Tried It") and this month's "So I Tried It," where Sue tests out natural pest control in her own back yard. Don't miss out on this issue's Eco News. There's also a new feature, "Certifying Our Backyard." Follow us as we convert Green Home's back yard into an environmentally safe and sound habitat. Last, but not least, enjoy this issue's serving of the Green Home Salon, where we pose the question: What is Diversity? See you in the Garden! - LC
